I woke up this morning and Elizabeth was looking up -- looking up at the ceiling.
I shut my eyes for a second and then she was in attack mode -- killing a big hairy spider

I just went back to sleep after that. Now you know who really defends our home.
Spacey Wilder strikes again---
There I was walking down the street when a person in hood and jacket approached me waving her hands at me. It wasn't until she was right in front of me did I realize it was Mrs. Wilder!
Must be my age.. or something
Or maybe it was just the fog (at least that was my excuse)
My wife is tough. She just got back from her third dentist appointment in two weeks. But this time (today) she didn't get any novacaine. Apparently it's normal to for the dentist to drill without anesthesia after a root canal, but it doesn't seem right to me (and Elizabeth said it hurt) . I hate the sound of dentist drills. When we were in Paris, our washing machine would rattle at night -- it sounded like someone was drilling into cement... sending goose bumps down my back and making me think of my dentist.
I learned another lesson -- not to give my wife a hard time if she doesn't wear her wedding ring. Especially when we go to the beach next week. Read about what happened yesterday at a beach Volleyball match.
According to the AP report, Walsh, one of America's Volleyball stars, went up for a block at some point during the match and the ring flew off her hand. Fortunately, some broadcasters noticed what had happened, and were able to go back to the tape to show officials where they thought the ring might be. Even with the video assistance, finding the ring amongst 17,000 tons of sand wasn't going to be an easy process. Especially when you consider that during each match, volunteers rake the sand to make the playing surface a little smoother, so that ring could have gone anywhere. After the day's matches had finished, volunteers combed the area with metal detectors until they located the missing band.
"The problem is, we rake the court," said Peter Paul Hreszczuk, the FIVB official manning the metal detector. "We heard a few noises; a few were false alarms. When we found it, it was pretty much under the net."
According to the report, Walsh was scheduled to get her ring back at some point today, and a meeting was set up with the volunteer who found it, obviously so that Walsh could thank them. I think Kerri deserves a lot of credit for staying composed and finishing the match. I know if I lost anything that valuable, I'd either be digging in the sand trying to find the ring, or worrying about it constantly until I did. She didn't do either of those things, and that's why she and Misty May-Treanor are one step closer to another gold medal.

She won at Olympic Bunco! She was representing Puerto Rico, (more Snaps of the medal ceremony coming soon -- they are being held up by the Chinese government who have to review all media before it leaves the country).
This week, I am driving the school bus -- I am driving my wife to school every day.
She is taking a course at Stanford for French teachers who need to prepare high school students for their AP exam...
So,.. it looks like I will be speaking French and watching French movies this week... 
For the 21 months, my wife has been constantly reminding me to chew my food before swallowing it.
Elizabeth chews each bite 32 times. Why 32 times?
Because her 9th grade biology teacher told her to chew each bite 32 times. One time for every tooth.
I wonder if she knows that I still have all my wisdom teeth.
Elizabeth's bday is tomorrow...
Some girls like flowers. Some like diamonds. Some like candy. But my Elizabeth likes practical things gifts like a fire escape ladder!..........so that's what I got her!
