Last night-- we started the music lessons.
We played some classical music, including some Lullabies for Snoops at night. The book Prenatal Parenting which I am reading now, describes some recent research showing how babies calm down faster if they listen to the same music they heard in the womb. (We have to make sure the music is the same in the womb as in the room! : )
So, we are following Aunt TeTe's advice and listening to some classical music, starting with the CD Baby Einstein: Lullaby Classics.
Snoops recently received a copy of this CD from our friends Betsy and Mark in CT. It contains songs from Bach, Brahms, Beethoven, Mozart and more.
Below is a list of songs on the album:
1. Variations (Twinkle, Twinkle), K265/300e
2. Minuet In G From Anna Magdalena
3. Piano Sonata In C, K 545, 2nd Movement
4. Spring Song
5. Piano Sonata In D, K 576, 3rd Movement
6. Jesu, Joy Of Man's Desiring, BWV 147
7. Canon
8. The Moldau
9. Preludes Book II, Clair De Lune
10. Sonata No.14 (Moonlight), 2nd Movement, Op.27
11. Symphony No.9, New World
12. Fur Elise, WoO 59
13. The Four Seasons, Winter, RV267, 2nd Movement
14. Orchestral Suite No.3 In D, Air, BWV 1068
15. Sonata No.8 (Pathetique), 2nd Movement, Op.13
16. Kinderscene, Op.15
17. Waltz No.15, Lullaby
SO my latest interest is reading about what I can do for Snoops while she is still dancing in the womb.
Well, not only reading about, but also putting into practice. Besides music, I envision that I will soon start reading stories to her every night. Prenatal Parenting recommends that I read to her in a very high -- maybe even squeaky --- voice. (Don't worry, I will record some of this for you). I haven't squeaked since I hit puberty, when my voice changed.
This week, I will focus on finalizing my CD collection. Next week, I will work on the library. I definitely see of Dr. Seuss down the road...
